    Der Islam ist eine Religion der Mitte und lehnt daher alle Extreme ab. Dies gilt für alle Bereiche des Lebens. Der Prophet sagte zu seinen Gefährten: >>Mäßigung, Mäßigung - und dann werdet ihr am Ziel ankommen.<< Das gilt natürlich auch für den Umgang mit der Religion. Der Prophet tadelte die Gefährten, die sich selbst strenge Regeln auferlegten. So schwor einer, sein ganzes Leben jede Nacht zu beten, ein anderer, stets zu fasten, und ein anderer nie zu heiraten. Der Prophet sagte zu ihnen: "Bei Allah, ich fürchte Allah und habe - mehr als jede andere Person unter euch - Angst vor ihm. Und dennoch stehe ich auf (, um zu beten) und ich schlafe; ich faste (einige Tage) und ich faste (an anderen Tagen) nicht. Wer sich von meiner Sunna abwendet, der ist nicht von mir.<< (Bukhari Nr. 5063, Muslim Nr. 1401) Der Prophet sagte auch: >>Hüte dich vor der Übertreibung!<< (Ahmad, Ibn Majah) Deshalb geht es beim Praktizieren des Islams nicht um Selbstkasteiungen und übertriebene Taten, die auf längere Zeit auch nur schwer durchzuhalten sind. Das Beste sind vielmehr - außer der Erfüllung der religiösen Pflichten - einfachere Taten, die aber regelmäßig vollzogen werden. (MF)
